Priority programs delved on agriculture, health and infrastructure will be the focus in the province of Iloilo under
the second term of re-elected Governor Arthur Defensor, Jr.
Defensor noted in a Capitol press release that these are the areas he feels not contented with as he looks back at his previous term.
He said he will continue the provincial government’s COVID-19 response and strengthen the province’s health care system.
He will improve road connectivity. Moreover, small-scale irrigation projects will be given much attention to maximize rice production and ensure food security.
It is just timely as the Jalaur River Multipurpose Project Phase II (JRMP II) will be completed under his second term, he added.
Meanwhile, Defensor condemned the massive vote buying every election.
According to him, “it does not reflect the will of the people and is not good for our democracy.”
To recall, the Iloilo Provincial Board of Canvassers proclaimed Defensor as the re-elected governor of Iloilo province on May 11, 2022 after garnering a total of 891,980 votes during the May 9 polls.JBG/LML/PIA Iloilo/Capitol PR
