Iloilo Governor Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr. and Vice Governor Christine “Tingting” Garin will seek reelection as a tandem in next year’s polls.
In an interview over radio station RMN-Iloilo, Defensor announced that his running mate will be Garin, who belongs to a different political party.
Defensor is the provincial chairman of the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) while Garin is a member of the Nacionalista Party.
The two agreed not to field candidates to compete against each other.
“Magbinuligay kita pero lain-lain lang aton partido,” Defensor stressed.
“Kapoy na mga tawo subong. Gamay lang nga tiempo ang aton mahatag sa politika kay kadamo sang problema subong. May pandemya kita nga gina-atendir subong,” he added.
The filing of the certificates of candidacy (COC) for the 2022 elections is schefuled on October 1 to 8.IMT
