Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. has urged voters to be discerning in choosing their next village leaders.
The Commission on Elections (COMELEC ) will carry out the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elelctions on October 30 this year.
In a press conference, Defensor said voters should elect barangay officials who are competent, smart and responsible.
These candidates should not be involved in illegal activities such as illegal drugs, the governor added.
Based on Resolution Number 10902 issued by COMELEC, the filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs) will start on Aug. 28 to Sept. 2, while the campaign period will be from Oct. 19 to 28.IMT
