The number of dengue-related deaths in the province of Iloilo has risen to 17, according to the Provincial Health Office (PHO).
The town of Barotac Nuevo posted the highest deaths at 3, followed by Passi City, Miagao and Badiangan with two deaths each.
The towns of Lambunao, Dingle, San Dionisio, Sara, Igbaras, Banate, Estancia and Concepcion registered one death each.
The deaths were among the 6,816 dengue cases recorded by PHO from Jan. 1 to Aug. 17, 2024.
The total cases this year was higher by 492 percent compared to 1,151 cases logged in the same period a year ago.
Passi City has he highest cases in the province at 497, followed by Oton (338), Calinog (289), Leon (278), Dumangas (273), Janiuay (266), Barotac Nuevo (245), Lambunao (245), Dingle (236), and Cabatuan (199).
The entire province is currently under a state of calamity due to the outbreak of the mosquito-borne disease.IMT
