Government employees, including public school teachers, will receive an annual medical allowance of P7,000 starting 2025, the Department of Budget and Management announced.

“It will start next year po. Dati, sa executive po, wala po kaming HMO (health maintenance organization). Wala po kaming medical allowance. Uniform po na matatanggap ang medical allowance, P7,000. Lahat po [kasama], pati po ang ating mga teachers,” Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said during a recent interview at the Kapihan sa Manila Bay.

Pangandaman said that Department of Education (DepEd)-employed teachers currently receive P500 in medical allowance.

The amount is included under the teaching allowance, formerly the cash allowance.

The 1,300-percent increase in the medical allowance is contained in Executive Order No. 64 signed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on August 2, 2024.IMT
