At least 30 illuminated floats are expected to participate in a parade during the celebration of Iloilo City’s 52nd Dinagyang Festival in January next year.

Joaquin Tirol Cocjin, committee chairperson, on Wednesday, Dec. 11, assured spectators that the 2020 Parade of Lights on January 24 will be “brighter and lovelier.”

“It will level up to a more beautiful and memorable experience for Ilonggos and visitors. We will have a showcase of the works of Ilonggo artists,” he said.

The Parade of Lights, which stared in 2018, is one of the major activities of the world-famous Dinagyang Festival. Its third edition will be handled by the Rotary Club of Iloilo South.

The parade will start at 6 p.m. from the overpass in Diversion Road to Megaworld’s Iloilo Business Park (IBP) in Mandurriao district.

The participating floats will be judged and winners will receive cash prizes and trophies.

Cash prizes include P300,000 for first placer, P200,000 for second placer, and P150,000 for third placer.

Aside from colorful floats, the top three tribes of Anilao’s Bana-ag Festival of Anilao will also join the parade.

Cocjin said the Tanglawan Festival of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan also confirmed to take part in the activity.IMT
