The grand winner of the Dinagyang Tribes Competition this year will receive a total of P25 million worth of school projects.
This was announced by Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas during the opening salvo of the 2024 edition of the Dinagyang Festival on Jan. 12, at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand.
In his message, Treñas thanked Uswag Ilonggo party-list Representative Jojo Ang for committing P10 million worth of projects to the winning tribe.
“On top of that, [the city government] will add another P15 million worth of projects as a prize for the champion,” he added.
The Tribes Competition is set on January 28. It will feature eight school-based tribes, including:
- Tribu Taga-Baryo of Bo. Obrero National High School
- Tribu Mandu-Riyaw of Mandurriao National High School
- Tribu Paghidaet of La Paz National High School
- Tribu Pan-ay of Fort San Pedro National High School
- Tribu Salognon of Jaro National High School
- Tribu Sigabong of Ramon Avanceña National High School
- Tribu Ilonganon of Jalandoni Memorial National High School
- Tribu Silak Iloilo City National High School
These tribes gave a ”sneak peek” of their performances during the opening salvo.
“Without a doubt, Dinagyang is the festival to beat. As a three-time Best Tourism Event in the country, it is known on the national and global stage. Dinagyang is one of the most highly anticipated events by visitors and tourists,” said Treñas.IMT
