The tourism department in Western Visayas will launch today, Jan. 23, the minus one of “Hala Bira, Iloilo!” with AVP (audio-visual presentation) at SM Southpoint in Mandurriao district, Iloilo City.
“Hala Bira, Iloilo!” is the official theme song of Dinagyang, one of the grandest festivals in the country.
Dubbed “MusikaSadyahan”, the event will be graced by the composer of the song, Antiqueño singer-songwriter Dante Beriong.
Beriong said the song, which “depicts Iloilo’s history, culture, and Ilonggos’ sense of pride”, was made “because of my passion and love for music.”
“I think that having a festival song can give an added boost to the festival itself,” he added.
The DOT-6 said through “MusikaSadyahan”, the composition will officially launch the music and its minus one, and the AVP of the vibrant micro-industries of Iloilo.
DOT-6 Director Atty. Helen Catalbas said the launch of “Hala Bira, Iloilo!” minus one “could foster sense of pride within the community through allowing them to perform or sing the music.”
Ilonggo singers Pirot, Emman Abatayo, and the Kinaadman Chorale will also perform at the event.IMT
