Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH-6) assistant regional director Al Fruto appealed to the public to join them in praying for the speedy repair of the Ungka Flyover.

In a radio interview, Fruto said their target is to reopen the flyover between Barangay Ungka II in Pavia town and Jaro district in Iloilo City by early December this year.

The P680-million flyover was temporarily closed to traffic last month due to “strange structural” behaviors.

According to Fruto, International Builders Corporation (IBC), the contractor for the flyover, “committed” to comply with the recommendations to be issued by the DPWH Central Office in Manila.

The Ungka Flyover is a national government project. It aims to lessen travel time from Iloilo City to the Iloilo International Airport and vice versa.IMT
