The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has urged the public to report those unqualified individuals who are included in the list of beneficiaries of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP).

Rhea Peñaflor, DSWD assistant secretary, said the program is only for poor families affected by the implementation of measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

In the Western Visayas region, there are a total of 1,472,683 SAP beneficiaries. Each of them is entitled to receive P6,000.

Peñaflor said local officials who will include ineligible persons will be subjected to investigation.

“They will face administrative sanctions and/or criminal prosecution including the refund of the subsidy improperly provided as the case may be,” she stressed.

Based on the guidelines, Peñaflor said “in case the paid beneficiary is not eligible, the DSWD will inform the local government unit within 72 hours from discovery.”

The DSWD-6 recently set up 24/7 hotlines to receive questions and complaints related to SAP.

The numbers are 09989481970, 09060253974, and 09060253891.IMT
