Undersecretary Alan A. Tanjusay said that the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-6) needs logistical support and volunteers to bring government relief to Paeng-hit areas.
Family Food Packs (FFP) and other relief goods are ready for mobilization but noted that more vehicles are needed to deliver aid to affected families, said Tanjusay during his visit to Antique with other cabinet secretaries of the Marcos Administration, .
He added that DSWD-6 welcomes volunteers to augment repacking and distribution efforts as DSWD Central Office is expected to provide additional FFPs and cash assistance.
As of 8a.m. of November 3, DSWD-6 reported 366,085 families or 1,384,686 individuals affected by Severe Tropical Storm Paeng, and 10,208 families are still displaced and remain in evacuation centers.
So far, 48,466 FFPs, equivalent to almost P26 million, and over P2.5 million worth of financial assistance have been distributed in Western Visayas.
Some 615 non-food relief items amounting to over P1 million have been provided, as well.
All in all, DSWD recorded an initial P35,123,918.45 worth of assistance in the region, including the P5.5 million aid given to the local government units (LGUs).
DSWD-6 is in constant coordination with the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) to address concerns on logistical support, while volunteers from educational institutions have also been mobilized.AAL/BPS/PIA6
