A 22-year-old resident of Dueñas town in Iloilo province turned out positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The male patient, tagged as Western Visayas (WV) 181, is a locally stranded individual (LSI). He arrived in Iloilo from Cebu on June 12.

The infected resident is currently isolated at the town’s quarantine facility.

Mayor Mamerto Pelopero III of Dueñas said the asymptomatic patient did not not have close contact with members of his family and residents of the town.

“Wala siya nakagwa sa aton municipal quarantine facility halin sang iya pag-abot diri sa aton banwa. Wala siya exposure sa mga Dueñasanon,” he assured.

Pelopero told the residents not to panic. “We should remain calm, vigilant and entrust our worries and anxieties to God. Magbinuligay Kita sa pagtapna sa sini nga pandemya.”

He also stressed that there is no local transmission of the disease caused by the novel coronavirus in their town.

The Dueñas resident is among the five new COVID-19 patients in Western Visayas.

The four other latest cases involved the following:

▪26-year-old female from Sibunag, Guimaras (OFW)
▪26-year-old female from Cadiz, Negros Occidental (LSI)
▪33-year-old female from Himamaylan, Negros Occidental (LSI)
▪30-year-old male from Murcia, Negros Occidental (LSI)

The region now has a total of 182 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 110 recoveries and 11 deaths.IMT
