Retired Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Guillermo Eleazar assured that the mental health of all police personnel will be given focus once elected senator in the May 2022 polls.
Mental health services, according to the former top cop, should be accessible to PNP personnel, especially during this pandemic.
Eleazar stressed that cops are prone to stress, anxiety, and depression considering the nature of their work.
“This is the matter that I want to give attention to if elected as a senator. The health services of the PNP had already been strengthened but admittedly the mental health program still needs a boost,” he said.
Eleazar will further improve the recruitment process to ensure that members of the police force are physically, emotionally and mentally fit.
He wanted police personnel to regularly undergo psychiatric tests to assess their mental health conditions.IMT
