Unstoppable.

This is the best description for Iloilo MVP Taekwondo jin Cyd Edryc Esmaña who gave honor not just to the Ilonggo community but also to the whole country.

Esmaña, dubbed as “small but terrible”, was the country’s lone representative in the 3rd Lents Taekwondo Worldwide Sports Online Poomsae Open Championships who ranked second place.

The Ateneo de Iloilo (AdI) sentinel scored 7.430 points, behind ranked 1 Eric Gun Sungyhun of USA with 7.730 points. Trained by coach Denmark Pinggol, Esmaña ranked second in the overall male Championship, a tournament among all gold medalists from Recognized Poomsae blackbelt individual division.

Aside from Esmaña, three Iloilo MVP jins also took home the medals in the Beach Poomsae category of the same competition.

Crisgel Castro won the gold medal in the Cadet Male Blackbelt, Joshua Cachero finished with tmsilver medal in the U-30 Male Blackbelt, and Niesha Kariz Pequierda snatched the bronze medal in the Cadet Female Blackbelt category.

For Cachero, he won the medal because of hard work, patience, and the help of his coach.

“I managed to win a silver medal in the tournament. I admit that my performance was a little off, because I’m not used to perform on the beach, but it was a fun experience. Winning the medal made me happy because all of my hard works in training finally paid off, and also honored,” he said.

“I am honored to give pride to my school, my gym, and my hometown in Leon. None of this would come true if it weren’t for my family, The MVP Family, and our Gym Instructors,” Cachero added.

Pinggol, on the other side, said it’s the first time that their team joined the Beach Poomsae event and happy for the turnout.

“I was inspired by my seniors especially our idol who also won a gold medal in this event Master Ernesto Guzman and my good friend and senior from Capiz, Joven Venancio. I’m so happy and so overwhelmed by the results of our MVP jins I would like to thank God for this abundant blessings and to all who prayed and supported us, especially our MVP parents.”

“MVP Gym will continue to mold future champions and will always be proud to represent Iloilo in local, national and even international competitions.”IMT
