Police Lieutenant Colonel Jovie Espenido said he was sent by God to kill those who “deserve to die.”
Nasa Bible yan,” he added.
But Espenido stressed that killing will only come if criminals, especially those involved in illegal drug activities, resist arrest and do violence to those who are enforcing the law.
Kung kailangan talagang mangyari ‘yon (to kill), that is God’s will,” the controversial cop said.
Espenido was reassigned to Region 6 (Western Visayas) from Ozamiz City in Region 10.
Yesterday, Oct. 16, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and was designated as deputy police director for operations of the Bacolod City Police Office.
Espenido said his target are big-time drug peddlers and protectors.
Espenido said drug users are “just victims.”
Espenido was the chief of police in Albuera, Leyte when then-mayor Rolando Espinosa was shot dead inside his jail in 2016.
In 2017, Espenido was transferred to Ozamiz City. Then-Mayor Reynaldo “Aldong” Parojinog, his wife Susan and 13 others were confirmed killed in simultaneous drug raids.IMT
