The family of the Ilongga caregiver who was killed in the conflict between Israel and militant group Hamas received financial assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-6).
DSWD-6 released on Oct. 20 an initial amount of P40,000 to the immediate family of Grace Prodigo-Cabrera in the town of Maasin in Iloilo.
Cabrera’s two siblings received P10,000 each while their mother, Paterna Prodigo, received P10,000 in cash and another P10,000 in food assistance.
The 45-year-old caregiver was the fourth Filipino casualty in the ongoing war. She was identified by authorities through her fingerprints.
Cabrera was earlier reported as missing after Hamas launched surprise attacks against Israel on October 7.
DSWD-6 also provided similar amount to the family of Loreta Alacre in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental on Oct. 14.
Alacre was murdered by Hamas militants near Gaza on October 7.Her remains arrived home on Oct. 22.IMT
