First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos will be conferred the “Chief Girl Scout” title by the Girl Scouts of the Philippines (GSP) in November.
The installation and investiture rites will be held at Malacañang Palace’s Ceremonial Hall, the GSP said in a Facebook post.
Araneta-Marcos met Thursday with GSP officials at the Presidential Management Staff building inside the Palace grounds.
The GSP delegation was led by Dr. Cristina Lim-Yuson, GSP National Executive Committee president.
“The meeting discussed the First Lady’s role as the Chief Girl Scout,” Yuson posted on Facebook.
Also in attendance during the courtesy call were GSP international commissioner and immediate past national president Susan Romualdez-Locsin, legal committee chair Eugenia Fernandez, fund development committee chair Leonida Ortiz, and national executive director officer-in-charge Roselyn Davadilla.
Assistant national executive director for program Ginnie Oribiana, national executive director technical assistant Princess Ballesteros, and Deputy Chief of Presidential Protocol and Protocol Officer to the First Lady Gift So also attended the meeting.
Through the years, the GSP continues to pursue character building and youth development programs as part of its commitment to nation-building.
Under the GSP Charter, a woman president or the First Lady of the Philippines is designated as the Chief Girl Scout, thus automatically making Araneta-Marcos the title holder.
The GSP’s Chief Girl Scout medal is the highest award given to the country’s girl scouts and is built on the total development of the woman’s spiritual, physical, mental, emotional and social aspects.
The Chief Girl Scout medal scheme mandates the country’s senior and cadet Girl Scouts to serve the community and to develop their leadership capabilities, perseverance, and sense of responsibility.PNA
