Several barangays in Iloilo City were flooded on Monday, April 11, due to continuous rains caused by Tropical Storm Agaton.

Based on data from the city government’s operation center, 26 villages were affected by the flooding.

Seven of these villages were in Jaro district, four each in City Proper, Lapuz, La Paz and Molo districts and three in Mandurriao.

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) placed the entire city under “blue alert” status due to the threat of Agaton.

In his memorandum order, Mayor Jerry Treñas ordered the operation center to “conduct close monitoring and quick coordination with concerned offices.”

He also advised Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Committees to “activate their respective operation centers” and “conduct disaster preparedness measures to ensure safety of the citizens.”

No damage to property, casualties, injuries, and missing persons have so far been reported.

In its weather bulletin issued at 11 p.m. on Monday, PAGASA said Agaton was spotted at 10 p.m. with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and 60 kph gusts while slowly moving north-northwestward.IMT
