Guimaras Governor Samuel Gumarin has contracted the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
In an interview over radio station Bombo Radyo-Iloilo, Gumarin said he underwent swab testing twice after experiencing symptoms usually associated with COVID-19.
According to the governor, his first test yielded a negative result but his second test turned out positive.
Gumarin, who has been considered a “mild patient,” is currently confined at a hospital in Iloilo City.
“Nakabatyag ako trangkaso, palanakit sang lawas kag napungot pero wala man unod imo ilong,” he shared.
“Pero wala ako ubo, waay man nadula ang akon panamil kag panimhot,” Gumarin added.
The governor said he is slowly getting better.
Gumarin is already fully vaccinated against COVID-19. He completed the required doses of the Chinese Sinovac vaccine.
All the governor’s close contacts, including his wife, daughter and other members of their household, were swabbed and yielded negative results.IMT
