The Philippine National Police (PNP) has designated Police Colonel Gilbert Gorero as the Iloilo Police Provincial Office’s (IPPO) new officer-in-charge (OIC).
Gorero replaced Police Colonel Kenneth Lucas, who was transferred to the PNP Finance Service.
The designation of Gorero as head of IPPO took effect on Tuesday, September 15, according to Police Regional Office (PRO-6) spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong.
“Ginaabi-abi gid naton ang pagdesignar sa aton as OIC. It’s a new challenge [for me],” Gorero said in a radio interview.
“But it’s still the good governor who will choose in the future kon sin-o ibutang niya as provincial governor,” he added.
Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. has yet to appoint the director of IPPO since Police Colonel Roland Vilela left the position last February.
Meanwhile, Gorero vowed to put more focus on, among others, reformation of policemen, internal cleansing, and proactive policing.
He said he would not tolerate ninja cops or scalawags in the police force.IMT
