The government is prepared to address the rising heat index and its economic impact, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro said Monday, March 3.

“Siyempre po laging handa ang pamahalaan patungkol dito. Kung ito po ay makakaapekto sa ekonomiya natin, tayo ay laging handa tungkol diyan,” Castro said in a Palace presser.

PAGASA reported that Quezon City and Clark Airport in Pampanga are experiencing a heat index in the “danger” category.

Castro noted that the Department of Health (DOH) has already issued safety reminders and that more action plans are being compiled.

“As of now, iko-collate pa rin namin iyong iba pa po na mga action plans patungkol dito. Pero nauna na ang DOH na magpalabas ng kanilang mensahe patungkol dito,” she said.

On March 3, several local government units and schools suspended face-to-face classes due to PAGASA’s heat forecast for Luzon.IMT
