The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has vowed to work closely with the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on the Alice Guo case.
Concerned agencies “are doing everything” for Guo’s return to the Philippines, BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco assured the public.
“Gagawin namin ang lahat ng kakayanin para makuha siya,” Tansingco said during a presser at the NBI’s headquarters in Quezon City.
“We cannot commit a date, but again, the assurance that we are doing everything na makuha, not only Alice Guo, but lahat ng kailangan namin maibalik dito sa Pilipinas,” he added.
On August 22, Sheila Guo and Cassandra Ong, companions of dismissed Bamban mayor Guo, arrived in Manila after being intercepted by authorities in Indonesia.
Sheila faces a deportation case with the BI for undesirability and possible misrepresentation as a Filipino national, while Ong was arrested by the NBI on charges related to a possible criminal case.
They are now under the custody of the Senate.IMT
