The government is committed to modernizing and expanding the country’s airports to enhance connectivity and create more opportunities for Filipinos, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at the inauguration of a new runway at Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA).

“It’s only a snapshot of all the exciting things that are happening in our airport infrastructure. It is part of our broader vision to advance the development of our country’s infrastructure,” said Marcos Jr.

He highlighted the P7.7-billion Aviation Infrastructure Program, which funds upgrades for 15 airports nationwide, including runway and terminal improvements and state-of-the-art navigational equipment.

“Through this program, we can construct, rehabilitate, and enhance runways, taxiways, ramps, control towers, passenger terminals, while at the same time acquiring state-of-the-art navigational equipment,” the President said.

Marcos Jr. also underscored the role of public-private partnerships (PPPs) in enhancing airport facilities.

Signed concession agreements for the Bohol-Panglao and Laguindingan International Airports aim to boost passenger capacity and modernize operations, he said.

The Chief Executive urged Filipinos to see these projects as steps toward a more connected and competitive nation.

He called on tourism industry partners to showcase Cebu and the Philippines and encouraged businesses to explore global markets and attract investments.

“To our partners in the tourism industry, led of course by the – as described by the Governor “the pride of Cebu” – this is your chance to showcase once again and even more the best of Cebu and with that the best of the Philippines,” said Marcos Jr.

“To our business community, this brings forth more opportunities to enter global markets and to attract greater investments.”IMT
