The island province of Guimaras is now close to obtaining a coronavirus-free status.
Based on the April 1 case bulletin released by the Department of Health (DOH-6), active COVID-19 infections in Guimaras went down to only three.
The figure was the lowest in the whole Western Visayas region.
The three cases involved residents of Buenavista (2) and San Lorenzo (1).
Guimaras, which is currently under the least restrictive Alert Level 1, logged a total of 3,765 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Of the total caseload, 94.77 percent or 3,565 have recovered while 5.15 percent or 193 have died.
On the other hand, Iloilo province remained the area in the region with the highest active cases at 1,361, followed by Iloilo City, 529; Negros Occidental, 404; Aklan, 150; Capiz, 92; Bacolod City, 87; and Antique, 27.IMT
