A newly-built quarantine facility that will further boost the preparedness and response of the island province of Guimaras against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID 19) pandemic was inaugurated February 25.
The 16-room isolation facility, which was constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) at the Capitol Grounds in San Miguel, Jordan town, is intended for COVID-19 patients in the island who are asymptomatic, according to the Guimaras public information and relations unit.
It has male and female doctors’ quarters, nurses’ station and every room is air-conditioned and has its own comfort room. The facility is also equipped with a generator.
DPWH Region 6 Director Lea N. Delfinado, Guimaras Representative Ma. Lucille L. Nava, Governor Samuel T. Gumarin, and Vice Governor lawyer John Edward G. Gando attended the blessing and turn over ceremony.
Also in attendance were Guimaras Sangguniang Panlalawigan members Cyril Beltran, Raymund Gavileño, Karen Kay Gadnanan and Marilou Delumpa.
Reverend Jose Alex Serania led the blessing of the facility that was designed to augment the existing quarantine facilities in the province.
Gumarin expressed gratitude to DPWH for providing the province with additional isolation facility.
The said amenity will enhance the province’s readiness to battle the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Governor.
“Nagapasalamat gid kita sa Department of Public Works and Highways, one of our development partners. Kinahanglan gid naton ini para ma-arrest ang local transmission sang virus diri sa probinsiya. We can only do this kun ma-isolate naton gilayon ang aton mga positive cases. With this facility mapahagan-hagan ang burden sang Provincial Government of Guimaras sa pag-away sini nga pandemya,” Gumarin said.
