A typhoon-enhanced southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, damaged 86 houses in Iloilo City.

Of the number, four were totally wrecked and 82 were partially destroyed, data from City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) showed.

Most of the damaged houses, according to CDRRMO, were situated near coastal areas. They were battered by strong waves.

A total of 112 families or 444 individuals were affected.

“We continue to give food and nonfood support,” Mayor Jerry Treñas said in a press conference.

“We really need to build more socialized households [to help those affected],” he added.

The city government also suspended classes due to inclement weather caused by habagat.IMT
