Senator Imee Marcos supports the call to conduct a Senate inquiry into the defective P680-million flyover in Barangay Ungka II, Pavia town, Iloilo.
In a press conference on Sunday afternoon, May 28, Marcos said someone must be held accountable for the “very badly constructed” flyover.
“Heads must roll,” the presidential sister told reporters.
Last week, the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) of Pavia approved a resolution urging the Senate to investigate the “sinking” flyover.
Third-party consulting firm Abinales Associates Engineers + Consultants (AAEC) reported on May 15 that all 16 piers or foundations of the flyover sank.
According to engineer Adam Abinales, managing partner of the Pasig City-based consultancy firm, the repair of the defects is estimated to cost at least P250 million.
“Ang problema ko ang laki-laki pala nang gagamitin sa repair niyan and I’m hopeful that they can come into a cheaper arrangement,” Marcos said.
The flyover was fully opened to traffic on September 5 last year but was closed to traffic 13 days later.IMT
