Iloilo City logged its highest heat index so far this year.

According the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the heat index in the city peaked at 46 degrees Celsius (°C) on Tuesday, April 8.

The condition falls under the “danger” category, ranging from 42°C to 51°C.

PAGSA said heat cramps and heat exhaustion are likely in areas experiencing the heat index under this type.

The state weather bureau added that heat stroke is probable with continued exposure to the sun.

The heat index refers to the temperature perceived by people. It is measured using the air temperature and the relative humidity in a place at a given time.IMT
