Fast craft vessel operators are planning to raise their fare this month due to higher operating expenses.
In a radio interview, Weesam Express operator Frank Carbon said they are eyeing a P5 to P10 fare increase.
Currently, the standard fare for fast craft vessels plying the Iloilo-Bacolod-Iloilo route is at P575.
According to Carbon, fuel accounts for around 40 to 45 percent of their total operating expenses.
Fuel prices, he noted, are continuously increasing. As of Feb. 4, the total year-to-date adjustment of gasoline, diesel, and kerosene stood a net increase of P4.40 per liter, P2.90 per liter, and P0.05 per liter, respectively.
Carbon urged government officials to look for ways to address the rising costs of petroleum products.IMT
