Iloilo Fifth District Board Member Carol-V Espinosa-Diaz has requested Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. to “allow the implementation of ‘No Bag Day Challenge’ within the Provincial Capitol.”

In her letter to the governor, Diaz said the proposed activity aims to “showcase the creativity and ingenuity of [Capitol] employees, in the hope thay it may stimulate their appetite for work.”

“[This] shall likewise send a strong message of environmental concern, create awareness, and ultimately, celebrate God’s wonderful gift of creation which is available all around us,” she added.

If approved, the employees will be required to use recycled containers or other most creative and unique alternative to conventional bags for one day on October 10.

“This endeavor will only be possible with your (Defensor) full support through an executive order or other means you find appropriate. Let Iloilo province be the first government unit in the county to take this leap,” said Diaz.IMT
