A couple in the town of Lemery, Iloilo was recognized for their honesty after returning a wallet with a large amount of money.
John Rey Acotan and his wife of Barangay San Diego turned over last week the wallet containing P41, 800 in cash to Police Captain Edwin Belarmino, head of the Lemery Municipal Police Station.
The couple was on their way to the town proper when they found the wallet. Without hesitation, they brought the wallet to the police station.
The owner of the wallet, Hermenia Golingay of Barangay Marapal, was grateful for the couple’s honesty.
She said the wallet fell from her bag. According to her, the money is intended for the payment of construction materials for their house.
Yesterday, June 8, Mayor Oscar Villegas handed cash and a plaque of recognition to the honest couple.IMT
