The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) wants to suspend telecommunication services via signal jammers during two-day highlights of the Dinagyang Festival 2025.
Police Major Shiela Mae Sangrines, ICPO spokesperson, said they have already sent a letter to the city government requesting for signal jamming.
The proposed jamming of network signals covers only selected areas in the city from January 25 to 26, according to Sangrines.
She explained that signal jamming is part of their measures to ensure a safe, orderly and peaceful celebration of Dinagyang.
“If the request is not approved, we will still ensure the security and peace during the Dinagyang Festival,” said Sangrines.
Last year, the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) rejected the Police Regional Office’s (PRO-6) request for a temporarily cut off mobile phone signal during the highlights of the world-renowned festival.IMT
