The power rate in areas serviced by the Iloilo Electric Cooperative (ILECO II) is set to decrease by more than P5 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) this month.
From P15.1932 per kWh in May, the electricity cost will go down by P5.345 kWh to P9.8503 per kWh in June, ILECO II announced on Tuesday, June 18.
The decrease, according to the electric cooperative, is due to the staggered collection of generation costs from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM).
Last week, the Energy Regulatory Commission’s (ERC) issued an order that allows distribution utilities to stagger the collection of generation charges from WESM purchases for four months from June to September.
“The remaining generation charges will be added to the next three succeeding billings. Due to this, there will be an expected increase in billing for the following months, thus MCOs (member-consumer-owners) are advised to continuously conserve energy,” ILECO II said.
ILECO II serves Passi City and the towns of Pototan, Mina, Dueñas, Dingle, San Enrique, Calinog, Bingawan, Lambunao, Janiuay, Badiangan, Zarraga, New Lucena, Barotac Nuevo, and Dumangas.IMT
