Iloilo, dubbed as “The Heart of the Philippines,” is among the “most affordable” tourist destinations in Asia in terms of prices of accommodation establishments, according to online booking platform Agoda.
Based on Agoda’s booking data from March 1 to 18 this year, Iloilo ranked first in the country and fifth in Asia with an average room rate of $50 or P2,814.
The province and city of Iloilo is known for the world-class Dinagyang Festival, delectable cuisine, century-old churches, farm resorts, and pristine beaches.
The top spot in the “Cheapest Destinations” list for Asia was clinched by Udon Thani in Thailand with an average room rate of $28 or P1,576, followed by Surabaya in Indonesia ($39 or P2,195), Hue in Vietnam ($43 or P2,420), and Kuching in Malaysia ($49 or P2,758).
Bengaluru in India was number six with an average room rate of $55 or P3,096, followed by Narita in Japan ($71 or P3,996) and Kaohsiung in Taiwan ($101 or P5,684).IMT
