The Sagguniang Panlungsod is eyeing to position Iloilo City as the country’s premier destination for medical tourism.
City Councilor Candice Magdalane Tupas said she crafted a measure that would help further improve medical services in the city.
“Since Iloilo City is actively promoting itself as a tourist destination, why not showcase our health services too?”
The city, Tupas noted, has “excellent hospitals and clinics with modern facilities and skilled professionals.”
“I am confident in our city’s ability to cater to tourists seeking wellness and executive checkups,” she said.
Tupas is hopeful that plastic surgeons in the city would venture into aesthetic procedures, as their focus has largely been on reconstructive surgeries for conditions.
The ordinance was already approved by the city council.
“This ordinance reflects my vision of integrating health with tourism and trade,” said Tupas, who is a radiologist by profession,
“I aim for health to be seen as a preventive and lifestyle-enhancing endeavor, not just a response to problems,” she added.IMT
