The Medical City Iloilo (TMCI) dismissed as “false” and “malicious” a social media post claiming that it has been “concealing” the actual number of its health workers and staffers who tested positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

“The management implements strict infection control and risk assessment procedures contrary to the statements mentioned in the said post,” TMCI said in its official statement.

“[TMCI] maintains a constant state of preparedness to provide high quality care to our patients and protection to our health workers,” it added.

The private hospital in Molo district, Iloilo City appealed to the public “to be careful in spreading false and unverified information.”

“We will remain committed in being transparent and truthful in providing the necessary information to the right authorities just like what we have been doing since the start of its pandemic,” TMCI assured.

Meanwhile, Mayor Jerry Treñas warned those spreading false information about COVID-19 of charges.

“Fake news proliferators will face the full force of the law. I will not hesitate to call you out and file charges against you,” he said.

“Every Ilonggo must cooperate in our fight to stop COVID-19 from further infecting our populace, and refrain from sharing and posting false reports that may cause panic and confusion,” the mayor stressed.IMT
