The Iloilo City Government will host the first quarter national meeting of Smoke-free Cities of Asia Pacific Network (SCAN) Philippine Chapter of the Southeast Asian Tobacco Control Alliance (SEATCA) at City Hall on Feb. 7.
It will be participated in by 15 SCAN officers who are mayors and focal persons.
The city government acts as Public Information Officer (PIO) of SCAN Philippines.
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas said the event is an opportunity to showcase the smoke-free tourism assets to visitors.
Iloilo City Anti-Smoking Taskforce Director Iñigo Garingalao said the delegates will tour City Hall and then pass by West Visayas State University-La Paz to Central Philippine University.
The guests will have a stopover at Jaro Cathedral, a declared smoke-free tourism site, before passing by Megaworld Iloilo Business Park in Mandurriao and Molo Mansion.
“The participants are also tourists who will explore and taste the culinary delights and scenes of the city, aside from being critical tobacco control enforcers,” Garingalao said.
“We will share the city’s anti-smoking implementations through policies, ordinances, initiatives and best practices,” he added.Alexandra Jover/Iloilo City PIO
