A 45-year-old man became the first dengue-related death recorded in Iloilo City this 2025.

According to a report released by the City Health Office’s (ICHO) Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit, the man was a resident of Barangay Zamora, City Proper. No other details on the fatality were provided.

From January 1 to February 20 this year, the city logged 103 cases of deng. The total number includes four active cases, 98 recoveries, and one death.

The city government urged the public to “maintain the cleanliness of their surroundings to protect their family, children and community from dengue and other diseases.”

Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral infection. It is transmitted to people mainly by mosquito vectors Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus to humans.

Symptoms include sudden onset of fever for two to seven days and at least two of the following: headache, body weakness, joint and muscle pains, pain behind the eyes, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea and skin rashes.IMT
