Iloilo City logs highest single-day jump in COVID-19 cases at 115

The Department of Health (DOH-6) reported 115 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Iloilo City on Wednesday, Sept. 16.

The figure is the highest single-day increase in positive cases recorded by the city.

The additional cases pushed the city’s total infection count to 1,738, including 1,188 recoveries and 35 deaths.

In the whole Western Visayas region, Bacolod City registered the highest COVID-19 cases with 2,774. Iloilo City came in second.

Negros Occidental occupied the third spot with 2,100, followed by Iloilo province, 1,070; Capiz, 314; Guimaras, 108, Aklan, 58; and Antique, 53.

The city is currently under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ), the lowest form of lockdown implemented by the government.IMT
