Mayor Jerry Treñas has commended mall operators in Iloilo City for strictly implementing health ang safety protocols to protect their shoppers against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
“All our malls are complying. Magsulod kita may ara nga nagakuha temperature, may ara alcohol, kag may mga sign para mamaintain ang social distancing maskin sa restroom,” Treñas said.
The mayor, together with members of the City Council, Congresswoman Julienne Baronda, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG-6) Regional Director Juan Jovian Ingeniero, ang police personnel, visited on Wednesday, July 8, malls in the city.
“My main purpose is to check the condition of our establishments, including all the tenants, stores, and facilities inside the mall, if they are strictly implementing our health and safety protocols,” Treñas said.
The mayor was also elated that mallgoers were observing the protocols.
“Ini nagapakita nga sa pagbinuligay naton sa pagpabangon sang aton ekonomiya, kita nagahugpong kag nagabinuligay sa hugot nga pagpatuman sang aton health and safety protocols sa tagsa ka establishment,” he said.
According to Treñas, he would write a letter to the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to increase the customer capacity of restaurants in the city to 75 percent, and to allow family members to sit together.
“Ti kay kon upod mo asawa mo, mga kabataan nyu dapat ululupod kamo kay sa balay nyu waay man kamo ka wear masks kag gasocial distancing,” he explained.
The mayor said he would also allow malls to hold events “as long as there will be proper observance of the protocols.”
“We should encourage more economic activities. We will try nga amat amat lang kay damo na nagclose nga businesses kag nadulaan trabaho,” Treñas stressed.
The entire city is currently under MGCQ (modified general cimmunity quarantine), the lowest form of community quarantine.IMT
