Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas on Monday, Aug. 10, bared that he tested negative for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
“My RT-PCR (reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction) test results came out negative,” Treñas said on his official Facebook page.
But the mayor said was advised by his doctor to complete his 14-day quarantine. “Just to make sure that I am no longer infectious before I start going back to work.”
The mayor underwent swab testing on Sunday, Aug. 9, after he was exposed to a coronavirus positive person.
According to the mayor, one of the Ayala Foundation officials who visited his office in the morning of Aug. 4 tested positive for COVID-19.
The officials donated personal protective equipment (PPEs) for health workers in the city.
“May nagkadto to kaina sa opisina, may gin-donate sila nga mga bagay nga kinahanglanon man sang aton mga nurses kag medical technologists. After sang paghatag nila, may diutay nga picture taking . After sina, naglakat man sila,” Treñas narrated.
“Pero I had close contact sa iya kay ara gid sya sa kilid ko. I was wearing a face mask, may face masks man sila. Waay man gakamustahanay pero medyo malapit lang,” he added.
Treñas said the officials underwent RT-PCR testing and the results were released in the afternoon of Aug. 4.IMT
