The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) has doubled its efforts in intelligence monitoring operations following the deadly bombing at Mindanao State University (MSU) in Marawi City.
Police Major Shella Mae Sangrines, ICPO spokesperson, said the City Intelligence Unit and police stations in the metropolis have been ordered to intensify their intelligence monitoring to prevent terrorist attacks.
Despite not receiving threats of terrorism in its areas of responsibility, ICPO is not lowering its guards and continues to carry out anti-terrorism measures.
Sangrines said they have beefed up police visibility in malls, churches, schools, terminals and other areas of convergence.
She appealed to the public to immediately report to authorities any suspicious-looking persons and unusual activity in their area.
Last Sunday, Dec. 3, a bomb exploded inside the Dimaporo Gym of MSU while a Catholic Mass attended by students was held.
The bombing, which was claimed by Islamic State militants, killed four people and wounded several others.IMT
