Iloilo City posted a significant decrease in the number of crime incidents.

The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) recorded 47 focus crimes in January this year, way lower compared to 78 cases in the same month a year ago.

The eight focus crimes are murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, carnapping of vehicles, and carnapping of motorcycles.

Mayor Jerry Treñas lauded the police force’s efforts to maintain peace and order in the city.

“I am happy to see that our police personnel had been working very hard to ensure that our residents are safe against criminalities and law violators,” he said.

Last year, the total crimes in the city went down by nearly 50 percent.

From January to December 2020, ICPO logged 483 cases, lower than 834 cases registered in 2019.IMT
