Iloilo City is the most efficient collector of real property tax (RPT) among 16 cities in Western Visayas.

The city ranked first with collection efficiency rating of 181 percent, records from the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF-6) showed.

BLGF-6 acting regional director Maria Rhodora C. Gascon said the City Assessor’s Office and the City Treasurer’s Office made remarkable accomplishments based on the target set by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) for the year 2020.

The city was also commended for “its timely submission of its 2020 fourth quarter electronic Statement of Receipts and Expenditures (eSRE) Reports and. Quality Reports on Real Property Assessment under the Local Government Unit Integrated System leading to the 100 percent submission compliance rate of the region.”

SRE system is an official reporting of the Department of Finance (DOF) on local government fiscal and financial matters pursuant to the Department Order No. 34-2014.

“The said report captures data that generate information on the fiscal capacity, level of borrowings and creditworthiness of LGUs,” said Gascon.

“It also provides financial information to the Local Chief Executive and other local officials for the purpose of policy formulation and fiscal management,” she added.

According to Mayor Jerry P. Treñas, these “exemplary accomplishments “prove that the city continues to be a livable and thriving metropolis for all.

“Despite the drastic effects of the pandemic on our economy, we continue to excel in our performances to serve the community,” he said.IMT
