Mayor Jerry Treñas believes that Iloilo City is now ready to transition to Alert Level 0, which is considered as the “new normal” where almost if not all restrictions are removed.
“We have to get out of this kay ti duha na ta ka tuig [into the COVID-19 pandemic]. Damo na negosyo nga nagsira, damo na tawo nga wala trabaho. Balik na ta,” Treñas said in a press conference on Monday, March 14.
According to the mayor, he already instructed the city government’s COVID-19 Team to prepare a letter requesting the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to place the city under Alert Level 0.
“Pareho man sa NCR (National Capitol Region) nga gapangayo to ang mayors nga maAlert Level 0 na sila. Mangayo man ko nga maAlert Level 0 man kita,” said Treñas.
“As I have said, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander,” he stressed.
The city is currently under Alert Level 1. Based on the March 14 bulletin issued by the Department of Health (DOH-6), it has 428 active COVID-19 cases.
In a report by inquirer.net, Dr. Rontgene Solante, a member of the government’s vaccine experts panel, the elements and details of the proposed Alert Level 0 are still being studied.
Under Alert Level 0, based on proposals, “COVID-19 will only be treated as an ordinary infection just like the flu, tuberculosis or even dengue.”IMT
