Iloilo City road accidents highest in Western Visayas

Iloilo City recorded the highest number of road accidents in Western Visayas in the first eight months of 2021.

There were 1,568 crashes in the city from January to August this year, data from the Police Regional Office (PRO-6) showed.

Iloilo province came in second with 1,251 road accidents, followed by Negros Occidental, 608; Capiz, 564; Aklan, 199; Antique, 177; Bacolod City, 121; and Guimaras 69.

All in all, the region registered 4,550 road accidents resulting in 251 deaths, 1,817 physical injuries, and 2,482 damage to properties.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Arnel Solis, PRO-6 spokesperson, said they have been continuously encouraging drivers to practice safe and smart driving.IMT
