Iloilo City will implement a uniform fare rate for tricycle trips in Iloilo City.
This, after the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) approved an ordinance setting a fixed rate of P15 per tricycle trip.
The ordinance amended the 21-year-old measure that sets minimum fare for tricycles operating in the city at P3.50.
City Councilor Romel Duron, chairman of the SP committee on transportation, said passengers will pay P15 each for the first two kilometers with additional P1 for each succeeding kilometer.
The new measure allows drivers to increase the fare to P25 if two passengers request to hire the whole tricycle for a one-way trip.
For a single passenger, the minimum fare is P50 for the first two kilometers.
Duron said the amended ordinance would prevent commuters from being overcharged.
