The use of quick response (QR) codes will be required when entering business establishments and offices in Iloilo City to “easily trace” those persons possibly exposed to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Both residents aged six years old and above and non-residents “working, visiting or transacting” in the city have to register online at www.uswagtracer.com to get their own QR codes.

According to Mayor Jerry Treñas, “all residents shall be given a two-week moratorium to generate their own individual codes” starting on Monday, Nov. 16.

“Filling up forms when entering malls and other establishments for future contact tracing reference will no longer be required,” he said.

“Through this, we can minimize contacts, risks of infection, and help us monitor the movements of our residents to ensure their safety,” Treñas added.

City government’s IT Divison head Francis Cruz said registrants must save the code on their mobile phones or tablets by taking a screenshot or print out a copy of it for scanning once the policy takes place.

Help desks will be set up in barangays to help residents register and download their QR codes.IMT
