Iloilo City has breached the one million mark in tourist arrivals for 2024, data from the Department of Tourism (DOT-6) showed.
A total of 1,001, 028 local and foreign tourists visited the city last year, higher by 12.95 percent compared to 2023’s 886,283 visitors.
In terms of tourism receipts, or the amount of money spent by tourists during their stay, the city earned P9.4 billion.
The city accounted for 17 percent — the second highest — of the nearly six million tourists arrivals in Western Visayas.
Aside from its world-class Dinagyang Festival, the city is also known as a gastronomic hotpot.
Aklan, which is home to the famous Boracay Island, had the highest number of visitors in the region at 2.2 million.
Negros Occidental came in third with 883, 519 tourist arrivals, followed by Bacolod City (833,345), Iloilo province (358,475), Capiz (282,929), Antique (210,301), and Guimaras (137,953).IMT
