Iloilo City Government urged those 18 years old and above to have their vaccines against COVID-19 even as vaccination sites are open every Thursday for walk-ins, including non-residents.
Mayor Jerry Treñas expressed appreciation to the national government for the additional allocations as the city can now share it to those from other areas.
“I thank Sec. Carlito Galvez and Sec. Vince Dizon for listening to our urgent request for more vaccines. We will be receiving 33,000 doses next week. I am requesting everyone to be vaccinated. Please do not choose the brand of vaccines,” Treñas stressed.
“Everyone needs protection at this time when many are infected. Do it for yourself, your family, especially your children and grandchildren, your officemates, if any, and your community,” he added.
Unvaccinated accounted for 92 percent or 244 deaths from Jan. 1 to Aug. 21, 2021 among Covid-19 cases as recorded by the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit of City Health Office.
City Hall is also expecting deliveries of its own-purchased vaccines.
“I assure everyone that with the number of AstraZeneca and Novavax vaccines the city has procured you, can be given a booster shot when the time comes that IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force) will allow us to do so. Please get vaccinated. Please do it now,” said Treñas.Iloilo City PIO
